When I go to the site, people like to pm me. The problem is that pm makes the public chat looks dead and I would rather engage people in public chat. But once they pm me, it seems rather rude not to talk to them.
I would like a way for me to disable pm for my account unless I start it.

Im from a site called blockstory.net and the dev there (Dr. Octor/Paul) wanted me to post this. They have a #ban and #kick. #Ban makes the chat go away until unbanned, but how about a #mute. It would make it so you cant type but can still see the chat. And maybe an option to make it so you cant recieve private messages from people, when the option "Busy" is in use.

A few members of my site, www.prettythin.com, have reported to me that they are not seeing the text people type. They get the "[username] is typing" and nothing happens. They found this out by communicating via private messages instead of the chat on the forum.

What can I do to fix it?

Particularly for sites for younger audiences, spamming can make chatting very unplesant.

I would like to propose you add a feature that detects if a message is being repeated over and over. Say, 7 times within 5 seconds, and blocks the user for a few seconds from posting anything else.
Ideally this would be a setting I could disable in some chatroom.

Was working yesterday and today and then all of a sudden stopped working. Looks like it's not getting all the credentials it needs from the auth call. We really need this working.
